Gillian Wearing is currently showing at Whitechapel Gallery, and has a brilliant show. The downstairs display is fantastic, with the four separate rooms, for video projections, creating an atrium where above in a small monitor one can see one of Wearing's best known pieces: "Dancing in Peckam" (image bellow). One walks in a barely lit space, entering those boxes, which have been left uncovered, showing the structure of its own construction, where a sense of publicness is mixed with the intimacy of the spaces and the pieces shown in them.
Leaving the exhibition very disturbed by the emotional charge of many of her pieces, either by the cruelty of a mother and her twin sons love (image bellow), or the sincerity of the confessions in the small cell-like spaces in the upper floor "Confess All On Video. Don’t Worry, You Will Be In Disguise. Intrigued? Call Gillian… ".

The exhibition will be there until the 17th of June, and I very much recommend a visit.
